Osburn sees reviewing the arts as a performance in itself, \u201ca literary response to an experience in the world\u201d: read more<\/a>. On osburnt.com<\/a>, he reviews theatrical, cinematic, musical, and other performances. Before the site launched in 2015, his reviews on social media were widely shared and excerpted, including in reprint by Theatre Scene<\/em>. In 2017, he was a panelist, in his osburnt.com role, for Coffeehouse Chronicles #141<\/a> at La MaMa.<\/p>\n

He wrote the liner essay to<\/a> 10<\/a>, <\/em>a 2015 CD and 2016 vinyl of U.S. and Peruvian standards by the Gabriel Alegr\u00eda Afro-Peruvian Sextet<\/a>, online notes for Sof\u00eda Tosello’s Lluvia fue<\/a><\/em>, and\u00a0 album release notes<\/a> for Chu\u00f1o<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As an auditor for the New York State Council on the Arts for several years, he evaluated grant-funded theatrical events in both the city and the state.<\/p>\n

Among his activities in Colorado was a staged reading of selections from classic dramatic criticism, using local actors, at a Rocky Mountain Theatre Guild Seminar on Arts Journalism. The program illustrated his view that criticism is, in its own way, theatrical.<\/p>\n

He honed his literary skills and philosophy of reviewing at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he wrote for the Daily Utah Chronicle<\/em>, the campus newspaper, and Expression<\/em>, a local magazine.<\/p>\n
